Shooting Incident victim seriously injured

On Saturday November 2nd at approximately 04.15 a.m. several police patrols, Detectives and Paramedics were sent to Mariana Estate to investigate a case where a man had been shot in his home. On the scene the investigating officers encountered the 25 year old victim lying on the floor of his apartment. The victim was bleeding from two gunshot wounds, one to his lower right arm and one to his abdomen.

 

The victim stated that he had been shot by man known to him from Jamaica. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and the transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. The Forensic Department arrived on the scene to carry out a crime scene investigation.

After a day of intense investigation the suspect in this case, a 23 year man from Jamaica was arrested. The arrest was carried without any resistance. During the arrest three other undocumented Jamaicans were arrested. They were taken to the Philipsburg Police Station where they have been handed over to the Immigration Department.

The medical condition of the victim is quite serious and he had flown out to the Dominican Republic for further treatment. The investigation into this case is ongoing.
