On Friday March 21st, the Investigation Judge decided that the arrest and detention of R.G. K . with regard to the Extradition Request of the United States (US) was legal.
R.G. K. was arrested last Monday, March 17, on Sint Maarten, based on a request made by the US authorities to Sint Maarten in September 2013. This request was executed now because R.G. K. was not in Sint Maarten at the moment of the request.
As soon as the documents pertaining to the request will be completed and received from the US, the request will be sent to the Common Court as this is the authority that advises the Governor in these cases. The law stipulates that these documents will have to be received by Dutch authorities within 60 days counting of the date of the arrest.
