Zoning Plans Public Hearing Planned for February 25 Simpson Bay Area;

Stakeholders invited to public hearing

Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI) Hon. Maurice Lake announces that a zoning plan public hearing for the Simpson Bay area will be held on February 25.

The public consultation will take place Tuesday, February 25 at 7.00pm at the Allen Halley Sports & Recreation Center, Simpson Bay.

The public hearing will be followed by the placement of the draft development plan for a period of 30 days for public review. Everyone can send their objections and concerns regarding the draft development plan in writing to the Minister of VROMI. An independent committee of experts will advise on the objections and concerns. The public review for Simpson Bay and public hearings and public reviews for the others areas will be announced accordingly.

Minister Lake regards the planned public hearing and public review for the development plan for the Simpson Bay area a milestone.

"It took a lot of effort and discussions to come to draft development plans that meet the shared desires of residents, tourists and investors who want to work, do business, live and play.

"The input of the community is considered paramount in this process in order for the right choices to be made. In my back to basics approach, the people have to have a say by giving their views with respect to the spatial development of the country," Minister Hon. Maurice Lake said on Sunday.

The aforementioned plans will guide the future spatial development of the country where it relates to government and private land.

The town hall meetings is part of the process of drafting of development plans/ "zoning plans" for country Sint Maarten which was initially started back in the first quarter of 2012 under former Minister of VROMI Theo Heyliger.
