This week dispatchers of the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) have started a course to increase their knowledge specificaly for the task they have to perform. Dispatchers, in cases of emergency, are the first contact for Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius at the moment when a person makes telephone contact with police. Therefore the team then answers the telephone, after taking sufficient information, will direct the patrol to the scene.
This training for dispatchers is the first in a series of three courses that they will follow. The first training regards the police process. Here the participants will learn how to communicate on a service system handeling incoming calls, taking information and dispatching vehicles to the screne.
The second course regards the fire department module and the last for ambulance. A total of nine persons are participating in this course which ends on Jnauary 31st. Following this coursedispatchers will continue their work with far more knowledge on how to deal with cases which they encounter on on a daily basis.
The objective of this course is for participants to be able to do their work in a more professional manner, as an individual as well as a team. This must also result in better service to the community and visitors to the islands of the Caribbean Netherlands. Two teachers from the Police Academy of the Netherlands are charged with giving this course. In this manner the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) will continue to improve and professionalize the service they render to the community.
