Hon. Nigel Carty re-appointed Senator and Minister

The Hon. Nigel Carty, who resigned yesterday (Thursday) as a senator and minister to facilitate the re-appointment of the Hon. Jason Hamilton as a senator and Attorney General, was sworn in Friday as a senator and Cabinet Minister.

Resident Puisne Judge, His Lordship Mr. Justice Errol Thomas administered the oaths of office as Government House, in the presence of the Governor General, His Excellency Sir Edmund Lawrence; Attorney General, the Hon. Jason Hamilton and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Patrice Nisbett.

Sir Edmund acting on the advice of the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, appointed the Hon. Nigel Alexis Carty to be a Senator of the National Assembly of St. Kitts and Nevis "with the powers, rights, privileges and advantages" with effect from March 1st 2013.

The Governor General on the advice of the Prime Minister also appointed Mr. Carty to be a Minister of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis with effect from March 1st 2013.

Sen. Carty has been given the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Information, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Cooperatives.
