ILO Report Writing Workshop On International Standards Comes To An End

 

The Department of Labour of the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour held a three-day Workshop on ILO Reporting Obligations, that came to an end on Thursday December 6th, on the request of Sint Maarten, a Standard Specialist from the Decent Work Team of the Sub-regional office of the International Labour Organization (ILO), led a Technical Support Mission to Sint Maarten on ILO Reporting Obligations.

 

The objective of the workshop was to raise awareness among the various ministries within government as well as Workers’ Organizations and Employers’ Organizations who all have a role to play in the reporting exercise, by providing information to the Department of Labour in view of the preparation of reports.

The three-day workshop covered topics such as:

· The ILO, International Labour Standards and the supervisory mechanisms

· Background information on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work

· International Labour Standards on Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining

· International Labour Standards on Forced Labour

· International Labour Standards on Equality at Work and Non Discrimination

· International Labour Standards on Child Labour
