Senior citizens get certificate for computer course

Approximately 30 senior citizens got a certification from the Media Lab course in computer training for beginners that was offered by the library during the past three months. The proud graduates of the course were trained in the use of the computer, emails, Skype and Animoto.

Each week for the duration of three months senior citizens attended classes at the library to develop IT skills that they can use in their everyday lives. “It’s been a great experience teaching at the Media Lab. When the participants first started out the majority of them did not know how to use a mouse, but now they have gained competency in that and more. The more they practice with the computer the better it is for them, because some of them are completely new to the computer world. That is why these courses are so important” program coordinator Francia Housen stated. The library plans to start the course again next year in February.
