U.S. Coast Guard Conducts Successful Port Security Audit Seminar

The Maritime Authority of Curacao and the United States Coast Guard International Port Security Program, in cooperation with the Harbormaster, conducted a port security audit seminar February 19-21.

Officials from police, customs, and fire service departments participated in the seminar. Members from the Curacao Port Authority, Isla Refinery, Curacao Dry Dock, Curacao Pilot Organization, and Curacao Port Services were also in attendance.

Representatives from the International Port Security Program visit Curacao each year to exchange port security information and best practices.

The focus of the seminar was improving the implementation of the International Ship and Port Security Code, which is a standard published by the International Maritime Organization.

The Curacao Port Services kindly hosted a training audit of the container facility. U.S. Consul General James Moore and local authorities attended the certification ceremony.
