Home invasion/ Suspect loses life

On Tuesday January 28th at approximately 03.10 p.m. several police patrols were sent to Oyster pond road 162, to investigate an ongoing robbery and where one of the suspects was caught. On the scene the investigating officers encountered a family who is on vacation and staying at the residence in question. They stated that while at home they were suddenly confronted by three unknown men who were trying to break in to their residence. One of the suspects was caught and held for the arrival of the police. The victims continued to state that the suspect in question started to resist heavily while the other two suspects tried to get him free by throwing stones at the victims, but did not succeed. The suspect continued to resist heavily and the victims kept holding to him. In the meanwhile the other two suspects jumped into a small white colored vehicle and fled towards the French side. The suspect that was caught stopped resisting after a while and remained lying on the ground. When the investigating officers checked the suspect he was not showing any signs of life. The paramedics were immediately informed and came to the scene and tried to reanimate the suspect without success. At least three of the victims suffered minor cuts and bruises. They were treated on the scene by paramedics. The detectives and Forensic Department were immediately informed of the situation and came to the scene to question the victims and collect evidence. Dr. Mercuur arrived on the scene and pronounced the death of the victim. The body of the victim has been confiscated to determine later what the exact cause of death was. The investigation is ongoing.
