Public Prosecution Issues Report On Arrest Of Non-working Police Officer

At the request of the Chief Public Prosecutor Wesselink, in consultation with the chief KPSM, the attorney general Stein of St.Maarten ordered the National Detective’s Agency to conduct a criminal investigation involving police offiver A.M., who is currently not working as a police offiver. Wednesday November 20th, the Agency did a house search in Cole Bay. The Public Prosecution Service was closely involved in the preparations of, and gave permission to the raid. During the house search a service fire-arm and ammunition had been found. The police officer has been arrested in violation of the Fire-arm Ordinance, but was released after interrogation. He remains a suspect. The Agency continues the investigation, and sutdies the origin of the fire-arm and ammunition and if the suspect receievd those to practice his service. The investigation focuses in particular on whether the suspect had the fire-arm and ammunition legally in his possession.
