Invitations not needed for public and business community to meet Members of the First Chamber of the Dutch Parliament on Thursday

In a reaction to a news report on Tuesday that an invitation may be needed to attend a meet and greet with Members of the Dutch First Chamber of Parliament on Thursday, January 10, President of Parliament Hon. Drs. Rodolphe Samuel said on Tuesday that everybody is invited, an invitation is not needed.

The public can meet with Dutch MPs at the Cultural Centre on Backstreet from 7.00pm to 8.30pm.

President Samuel said on Tuesday that this is also an opportunity for business representative organizations and labour groups, as well as Non-Governmental Organizations to meet and greet the MPs.

Between 2013 and 2015, the 200 years existence of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will be celebrated with a range of activities.

This is one of the reasons to remember the joint history, present and future of the Kingdom in all its diversity, President Samuel acknowledges.

"The three areas that I plan on bringing up with Dutch MPs are the future positions of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the partners that make-up the Kingdom.

"With respect to Kingdom inhabitants, how the Kingdom will evolve for Caribbean Kingdom inhabitants, and thirdly, the future economy of the Kingdom, how the various partners can advance together and make use of the opportunities.

"It is good that the common man has an opportunity to discuss these and other issues relevant to them at such the meet and greet event," President Rodolphe Samuel pointed out.
