Ombudsman To Hold Informative Session For Residents of Middle Region, Defiance & Oyster Pond

The Middle Region and Defiance Community Council is inviting all the residents of Middle Region, Defiance and Oyster Pond to a very informative evening at the Sister Marie Laurence School on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 7.30pm until 9.00pm. The Ombudsman will be in Middle Region to inform all the residents of the above mentioned areas what the function of the Ombudsman is in our new constitution.

You will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers based on the presentation that will be made to you.

The Ombudsman handles only complaints against a government department or government entity charged with public authority.
Just imagine that you have a major problem with the government of St. Maarten and you just don’t seem to be able to get out of it. This is how the Ombudsman comes into action, they are the defender of the public and must investigate your complaint in a fair, transparent and impartial manner.

We are asking all the residents to come out in big numbers and to learn more about the functioning of the ombudsman. This is your chance to be informed and to be heard. "Today you may not have a complaint against the government of St. Maarten but you never know about the future, says Mr. Lenny F. Priest, President of the Council.
