Seven Seas Water Makes Donation To Generation New Status Drum Band

The Council of Cultural and Artistic Expressions Foundation (COCAAE) on Wednesday became the latest recipient of a donation made by Seven Seas Water (St. Maarten).

The donation of 1500 U.S. dollars was recently made to the group by Seven Seas Water Managing Director, Franklyn Richards.

Accepting the donation were the foundation’s founder and president Urmain ‘Youmay’ Dormoy and foundation coordinator Jennifer Thomas, who were joined by members of the Generation New Status STM drum band, for the occasion.

Richards has expressed his company’s continued support of worthy causes in the community. He noted that Seven Seas Water considers its role as good corporate citizen and that as such it always welcomes opportunities to assist, particularly, youth development in St. Maarten.

The latest donation was made to enable members of the youth drum band a vacation experience at Disney World in Orlando, Florida during the upcoming September midterm break.

Band leader Youmay Dormoy said that the band had been working diligently from September 2008, on Saturdays and even during the work week, in preparation for scheduled performances.

Comprised of children ranging in the ages of 5 to 16 years, the band has distinguished itself with numerous presentations and performances at cultural events, social gatherings and funerals of some of St. Maarten’s most noted community icons.

The trip is meant to expose the kids to various educational aspects of Disney World while granting them the opportunity to showcase their talents abroad.

"Assisting our children in such an endeavor is a contribution and is one which Seven Seas Water embraces wholeheartedly", noted Richards.

"Many of these kids have already demonstrated their skills on the drums – underlining their commitment to this type of entertaining art form. With this donation, Seven Seas recognizes their talent, dedication, and hard work" stated the Seven Seas Water director.
