Minister of Interior Affairs Liesbeth Spies who is on a working visit on Sint Maarten visited the Philipsburg Police Head Quarters on Monday June 11th. Minister Spies and entourage and the Minister of Justice Roland Duncan were met by the Chief Commissioner of Police Peter de Witte. At the police station Minister Spies was informed of the progress and developments within the organization. Several officers from the Netherlands who are presently on Sint Maarten assisting the police force were present and gave a short summary of their experiences since their arrival. Also several local police officers gave a short summary of their working experience between the colleagues from the Netherlands and themselves. A presentation of the ongoing project about "Community Policing" was given by Acting Chief of Police Commissioner Carl John. To finalize the visit of Minister Spies a live demonstration was given by the police Arrest Team, the police K-9 Unit and police Bike patrol was given. Minister Spies was quite impressed with the presentation and demonstration that were given and also the developments within the organization.
