Visit of Minister Donner to St. Maarten, Curaçao and the Public Entities

On Sunday June 19th the Minister of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations Piet Hein Donner will start a five-day working visit successively to St. Maarten, Curaçao and the Dutch Caribbean islands. The visit of the Minister to St. Eustatius, Saba and Bonaire largely coincides with the visit of Secretary of State of Finance Frans Weekers.

The visit of the State Secretary is meant to get acquainted and to discuss the tax laws. Minister Donner visits the Dutch Caribbean territories for the cooperation programs, the progress committees, transport of persons and goods and the kingdom conference planned for later this year.

Furthermore, Minister Donner will visit the Governors and the Prime Ministers in both countries. On St. Maarten, the Dutch Minister will also talk with Minister Justice, Roland Duncan. Monday morning the Minister will travel to Curaçao, where he will speak to the Prime Minister of Curaçao Gerrit Schotte and the Minister of Finance Jorge Jamaloodin. The Plan Veiligheid (Security Plan) in St. Maarten is on the agenda in the afternoon. On Wednesday the Minister will talk to Prime Minister Sarah Wescott and Minister of Finance Hiro Shigemoto, in St. Maarten.

On Tuesday Minister Donner will go on to St. Eustatius for a meeting with the Island Governor and the Executive Council. A similar program is planned for Wednesday and Thursday in Saba and Bonaire. The working visit ends on Thursday afternoon when the Minister departs to the Netherlands.
