HBO Soprano star

 

Great Bay – HBO’s Soprano star, Robert Micheal Iler, was the featured attraction on Monday morning as he visited the St. Maarten Academy PSV Campus and spoke to students.

The young American actor is best known for his portrayal of A.J. Soprano on ‘The Sorpanos’ which aired on HBO from 1999 to 2007.

Iler learned most, if not all of his acting skills on set.

Iler is among a group of celebrities visiting the island as part of the branding strategy recently launched for destination St. Maarten.

At the St. Maarten Academy, Iler was joined by tourism commissioner Frans Richardson, who welcomed the actor and entourage.

Commissioner Richardson applauded the fact that the actor could share words of encouragment with the students. The commissioner spoke of Iler as a role model and expressed the hope that some local students would be inspired to pursue careers in acting.

The actor used the opportunity to share some motivational thoughts with the students. This was was followed by a lengthy question and answer period in addition to the actor signing autographs for the excited students (GIS photo)
