SEI implementation plan presented to EXCO

                           

Monday afternoon, members of the Social Economic Initiative team presented to the Executive Council the "Implementation plan for the Social Economic Initiative 2008-2010."

The SEI was established to ensure structured financial and economic foundations for a sustainable future in preparation for Country St. Maarten.

The primary objective of the SEI is to promote sustained economic development and address social-economic challenges within various sectors over a duration of three years.

Some of the areas are: Spatial Planning and traffic congestion; Development of Small and Micro-enterprises; Economic diversification; Tourism marketing; Labor market and education; Regulation; Government finance; Data; and Social issues.

The Implementation Plan will serve as the roadmap for the execution of the SEI projects. Additionally, the plan will list the various programs and projects that are to be executed.

One the Implementation Plan has been approved by the Executive Council it will also have to be approved by the Dutch Government. Once this process has been completed work will begin on the executing of the name projects.

Committee members are Louis Brown Directorate of Program and Project, Miguel de Weever, Sector Economy and Tourism, Lucy Gibbes, Head, Department of Economy and Tourism, and Udo Aron, Program Manager, DPP.
