WILLEMSTAD – The airport tax for departing passengers from Hato Airport will increase as of January 1, 2022. The increase in the so-called Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) is listed in the Ministerial Regulation (MR) passenger facility charges 2022.
The tax for travel to Bonaire goes from seventeen to twenty dollars. The rate for Sint Maarten and Aruba will be increased from 33 to 38 dollars per passenger. For other destinations, the rate will increase from $49 to $63.
“Due to the shortages of Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), during the current rate period that started on January 1, 2019, new rates for passenger facilities charges have been established in the interim,” the MR explains. The rates are normally set for a period of three years, but the national ordinance also allows rates to be adjusted in between.
The airport tax is part of the ticket price and is charged to the passengers by the airlines.
