Audit to those on health care workers continues now at Volleyball Pavilion

The National Health Service (SNS) has moved check delivery of public health care workers in Greater Santo Domingo to the Volleyball Pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. The operation is part of a nationwide effort to verify in person those employed in public hospitals in the Dominican Republic. Those on the Ministry of Public Health payroll are asked to go in person to receive a physical pay check. For years, public employees have been paid by bank transfer. Nevertheless, there are many claims that thousands of people are collecting for others, or are living abroad. The initiative seeks to ensure that those collecting wages are doing a job.

The effort is part of the Abinader administration to reduce corruption in government.

The media has criticized the way the measure is carried out, causing enormous queues and inconveniences to the public health care workers.
