First Ever Bottom Fishing Tournament at Bobby’s Marina this Sunday

The St.Maarten Sport Fishing Foundation is set to host a fundraising Bottom Fishing tournament on September 23rd at Bobby’s Marina.

 

"The idea of having this type of fishing competition is to offer the opportunity for our local fishermen show off their skills. As fishing being one of our island’s pastime’s, says Mr. Hodge, the foundation’s president.

Registration for all participating fishing boats will be held on Saturday, September 22nd between 5pm and 8pm at the 12metre Yacht Club located at Bobby’s Marina. Registration fee per boat is USD75,-

The fishing competition itself will be on Sunday September 23rd from 6am until 3pm. Participants must be back at Bobby’s Marina by 3:30pm to weigh their catches. Qualifying fish will be Yellowtails, Hines, Butterfish, Snapper, Grouper, Grunts, Poggies, Old Wives and any other species of fish that feeds off the sea bottom.

The prizes are Most overall weight, Second most overall weight and Largest Fish caught.Alongside the various prizes up for grabs and bragging rights, the winning team will be awarded a paid invitation to compete in the foundation’s 5th Annual Budget Marine Wahoo Fishing tournament on November 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
