Oualichi Women’s Soccer Association to Host Dutch Caribbean Women’s Soccer Cup

Oualichi Women’s Soccer Association will be organizing the first Dutch Caribbean Women’s Soccer Cup when it will host a club football competition featuring the Oualichi Women’s Soccer Team, CVV Willemstad from Curaçao, Sv. Oemasoso from Surinam and the Bonaire Female Selection. The tournament is scheduled to kick-off on the 26th of June and will end on June 28th. The event is unique for bringing female soccer clubs from Dutch-speaking countries in the Caribbean and South America together to develop the sport amongst the sister teams.

Curaçao en Surinam have a long-standing experience with women’s soccer with each country already having various women’s teams. For Sint Maarten and Bonaire having female soccer teams is relatively new and it is hoped that this tournament will bring the teams together and develop and promote the sport for women in their respective countries.

The competition is sanctioned by the newly elected board of the Sint Maarten Soccer Association, a member of CONCACAF. The Association President. Mr. Sudesh (Johhny) Singh, also welcomed the invited teams and wished them the best of luck during this championship; “Come out and have fun, compete and most importantly show your sportsmanship. Aside from Soccer Sint Maarten has much to offer so during your stay please also explore our beautiful island.”

The Competition kicks off on Friday 26th of June at 6:00pm with the opening ceremony and the first game Sint Maarten vs. Bonaire followed at 8:30pm by Surinam vs. Curacao.
