New Board Elected for the Sint Maarten Soccer Association ‘Mr. Sudesh ‘Johnny’ Singh Voted in as President’

On Saturday the 16th of May the new board of the Sint Maarten Soccer Association was elected by the members of the Association. The vote and subsequent change in Board came after many talks and negotiations by the members, the previous board and CONCACAF representative Mr. Marco Leal. Talks that preceded the election surrounded the state of affairs of Soccer in the country and the new direction it has to take. It was concluded that election was necessary for a new board to fulfill these goals. During the same meeting RISC takers was officially admitted with voting rights by the members based on a 2013 accepted membership by the board. New member FC Soualiga was also admitted.
Three people postulated for the position of President; previous president Mr. Nicky Owen; previous Vice-President, Mr. Elton Jones; and Mr. Sudesh ‘Johnny’ Singh, coach for the Oualichi Women’s Soccer Association and official  referee who was voted in by a majority with seven out of nine votes.
Mr. Sudesh Singh has a long history of being involved in football on the island and held the position of previous president of the Futsal association. The meeting was concluded with election of the rest of the board members: Mr. Noris Richards of FC Veendam, Ms. Danaë Daal of the Oualichi Women’s Soccer Association, Mr. Dwain Wright and Mrs. Natasha Wright of Flames United Sports Club, Stanley York of FC Superstars and Mr. Orien Allen of C&D Connections. The new board will start the process of restructuring the organization and will come with information for the public soon.
