Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise Hosts its 1st Annual High School Volleyball Tournament

Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise held its first High School Tournament with the finals on October 6, 2012 at the Melford Hazel Sports Complex. Participating Schools included: Milton Peters College, St. Maarten Academy PSVE, and the Sundial School. 

 

Each school had male and female teams. In the lieu of September being Rotary’s International New Generations Month, the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise organized the volleyball tournament, which was coordinated by the New Generation Director, Ms. Paula Gordon. Ms. Gordon stated that she was happy with the outcome of the tournament and congratulated the MPC male team, the winners of male volleyball tournament, and the St. Maarten Academy PSVE female team, the winners of the female volleyball tournament.  The second place winners for the male volleyball section was: St. Maarten Academy PSVE, and Sundial came in third. For the female volleyball section, MPC won second place and Sundial came in third.

The Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs was in attendance for both dates that the tournament was scheduled, and was on hand, for the trophy and medal ceremony.

Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise would like to thank the St. Maarten Volleyball Association for their assistance with the officiating of the games, and their dedication towards the promotion of the volleyball sports in the community.
