The congress is held annually for representatives from the region to meet to discuss Little League Baseball and Softball matters and to share information about what is happening in their respective countries.

This year, round table conferences to discuss proposed rule changes, were included in the congress as well as the other regional congresses around the globe. The preliminary response from the congresses on the proposed rule changes will be compiled and representatives from around the world will be given the opportunity to vote on the changes online. If passed, the rules will go into effect in 2013 or later.

The local league recently held a rules and regulations seminar to update coaches and umpires on changes in effect for 2012 and the same will be done in the future as new rules come into play.

Countries vying to host the regional championships also get the opportunity to bid for such during congress. St. Maarten proudly confirmed that the 2013 Senior League Championship will be hosted on St. Maarten. The last time St. Maarten hosted such a championship was in 2007 and 12 countries participated. The region has seen an expansion in membership therefore approximately 13 to 15 countries could be expected to participate in the championship next year.

Annually it takes a lot of hard work, commitment and dedication from volunteers and sponsors in order for the local Little League Organization to carry out its programs that are to serve the children of St. Maarten. Our pledge is to continue doing so with the continuous support of our community.
