For the people of St. Eustatius and Saba a long cherished dream came true: a helicopter for medical transport.
The helicopter arrived last week on St. Eustatius and made a successful test flight. A realistic exercise of emergency transportation will follow soon. The helicopter will soon be stationed on St. Maarten and then from there in an emergency used for emergency transports from both and from St. Eustatius and Saba.
Upon landing after a test flight (from left) Dr. Paul Schats, the president of the Foundation for Health Care of St. Eustatius, State Representative Wilbert Stolte, Commisioner of health Clyde van Putten, Jan Pieter van Zandwijk, head of the health insurance office and the pilot of the helicopter were present.
