ST. JOHN’S, Antigua-A brilliant century from Andre McCarthy ensured that the Jamaica Scorpions kept their Super50 Cup dreams alive, as they defeated Guyana Jaguars by 46 runs via the D/L/S method in a rain-affected match.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Scorpions were stunned when Steven Taylor was caught without scoring; But Rovman Powell and Chadwick Walton rebuilt the innings, posting 60 together before Walton departed for 33.
McCarthy joined Powell and the middle order looked set to take Jamaica to a big score. But Powell was stumped by wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble for 34.
McCarthy then took charge of the Scorpions innings and he looked determined to get some runs in this match. He combined with Fabian Allen in a mammoth partnership of 110 runs, which saw the Scorpions pass 250.
Jamaica Scorpions finished their 50 overs on 264/9. McCarthy made 105 before being bowled by Keemo Paul, next best was Fabian Allen who remained not out on 47.

This cat and mouse game occurred a few more times before the rains finally stopped altogether.
Set a revised target of 231 to in from 32.3 overs, the Jaguars collapsed due to Nikita Miller’s bowing.
