People who paid their car tax on time have nevertheless received an incorrect payment reminder from the Tax Office (Belastingdienst CN). When they called the Tax Office, they were asked to come to the tax office to show the payment receipt.
Unkobon deems it very customer-unfriendly to have people make all this effort to prove that they have paid. Therefore, the consumers association has contacted the Tax Administration and asked if there is no alternative way, for example, by sending a scan, photo, or the content of the payment information by email.
The Tax Administration explained that the motor vehicle tax is an island tax imposed by the Bonaire Public Body. The Tax Office takes care of collecting the tax. This means that also in this case, MRB reminders have been sent bij the tax office on behalf of the local government. For several weeks, the Tax Office received comments by email and at the desk and tries to solve everything as quickly and easily as possible.
Thus it still is possible to send a proof of payment via the mail. In the event that it is not possible to send a photo or scan, you may also send the payment details (date, which bank and transaction number or transaction details) to: info@rijksdienstcn.com. The Tax Office will then check these data against the data contained in the administration.
Unkobon appreciates the cooperation of the Belastingdienst to look for the most customer-friendly option.
