Rio Productions conducted meeting with emergency services

The organizing committee of Rio Productions conducted a meeting with the Emergency Services of St. Maarten namely; the Police Force, Fire Department and Ambulance Services, in preparation of the upcoming largest Carnival Night Parade ever hosted on St. Maarten which is set to take place on April 9th 2016.

Rio Productions recognizes the importance of proper safety and security measures, and called in meeting last week with the emergency services to get a better understanding of all rules & regulations to comply with. Chief Inspector of the Uniformed Division-Philipsburg Mr. Bloeiman gave an overview of all aspects that need to be taken into consideration when hosting a large event, and also underlined the zero-tolerance position of the police regarding alcohol consumption of under-aged participants. The fire department provided detailed information on fire extinguishers, safety procedures and outlined the importance of having an emergency lane at the event location called “Rio Village”.

Organizing the largest night parade ever in the history of St. Maarten, with 3 bandwagons, bands, DJ’s, lightshows, and approximately 1500 carnival revelers comes with the responsibility and commitment to take all aspects regarding public safety into consideration. President of Rio Productions, Ms. Brenda Wathey stated “it makes me extremely proud that our uniformed officers are so passionate & concerned about the safety of our people. As they are recognizing the importance of Carnival Events for St. Maarten, they also made abundantly clear that public safety can never be jeopardized during events whereby full cooperation of organizers is expected. Rio Productions is of the same opinion and pledged to comply with all safety regulations, as we see it as our mission to provide a safe environment where revelers can enjoy carnival music as they parade in lighted t-shirts and costumes through the streets of the Philipsburg showcasing St. Maarten’s culture”.

T-Shirts are still available but very limited, persons interested in participating are therefore advised to purchase their shirt before April 6th 2016. For more information visit: www.rioproductions.sx
