— The Foundation Judiciary Institutes Windward Islands unit Foster Families Central contributes towards child protection and development on St. Maarten by matching children who are placed under protective measure by the judge with suitable foster families and volunteers that suits their needs.
In order to give adequate assistance to foster children it is mandatory that all potential foster families and volunteers undergo training.
With this training the Foster Care central is doing their utmost best to give the volunteers and mentors the tools to be able to assist the Family Guardian and the Foster parent.
The training will take place in the month of September and October 2014, two (2) times a week in the evening.
The different topics that are going to be discussed during the training are:
• Foster care system
• Self-image and self-worth
• Abuse
• Communication
• And more
