The students of the Dr. Martin Luther King School were all smiles this morning when a team from NAGICO Insurances officially announced our NAGICO Little Stars scholarship program and in addition presented each child with a backpack, pencils and pens to kick off the new school year.
The school’s morning assembly was buzzing with excitement as the students were not only excited to show off their new school uniforms but, were very pleased to receive the token of encouragement from NAGICO. The NAGICO Little Stars project will grant a total six (6) scholarships to the top performer in every grade within the school. This scholarship consists of a fully paid tuition fee for one school year and a voucher to cover the costs of school supplies; including books and school uniforms.
“We are grateful to NAGICO for doing this, especially on their initiative. Initiatives such as this solidify a healthy working relationship between our school, NAGICO and the community,” Stuart Johnson, principal of the MLK school said. “The students are very excited to be back in school, especially since this is the first time they are wearing our new purple school uniform and for NAGICO to give them such a surprise like this, surely made them very happy.”
President of the Parents Teachers Association; Ms. Malaine Dublin was also on hand to accept the donations presented by NAGICO. “On behalf of the PTA I want to say a big thank you to NAGICO for choosing this school and we are very excited about the NAGICO Little star project,” she said. “We hope that this will not be the last donation and we hope that other businesses will follow this example.”
In addition to the backpacks, NAGICO handed over a computer and two standing fans to the school, which were accepted by Principal Johnson. The NAGICO Little Stars scholarship program was also announced during the assembly, attracting a round of applause from the parents and teachers in attendance.
