DP List to Reflect “QUALITY over QUANTITY”
The DP will be presenting its list of candidates for the August 29th election on Friday, July 11th, at 3 PM at the Administration Building. The submission of the list will be done by the Party leader in the presence of 18 other persons who qualified to become DP candidates out of an initial group of 27, vying for one of the 23 available positions.
Months ago, Party Leader Sarah Wescot-Williams made it clear that the re-invigorated Democratic Party was prepared to submit a list of any number of candidates, once DP’s “QUALITY over QUANTITY” requirement would be met by all prospective candidates.
The submission of this DP list is a proud moment for the Party, as it comprises representatives of practically every layer of our community.
Veteran candidates, new candidates, young candidates, experienced candidates, women and men; all of caliber and most importantly, with ONE common objective.
Party leader Sarah Wescot explains: “In my opinion this election comes down to one basic element: TRUST! Who can we trust with the affairs of our country St. Maarten?”
Party members will gather tomorrow Friday from 2 PM, at Jimmy’s Ringroad Grill, across from the DP’s head quarters on the Walter Nisbeth Rd. (next to Subway). From 5 PM, there will be a “Meet & Greet Your DP Candidates” on the Boardwalk, at Cornie’s Beach Bar, next to the Fish Alley.
Come out and see and hear your candidates, Team DP 2014.
Party Leader Wescot-Williams also reminds the electorate that on Monday, July 14th, eligible voters are requested to endorse the DP list anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 pm. This must take place on Monday at the Civil Registry (Census) office on Pond Island.
