The Lab Sports Academy hosted its 6th Annual HARBOR TO PIER open Waters Swim event over the weekend as o pre St. Maartens Day event.
This Event was a great success, we had a record turnout of participants.
A total of 106 athletes took part in this event.
First of all we would like to give A Big Thank you to management of the Harbor Facilities for permitting us to make use of their PIER for the Start of this event.
Also a big thank you goes out to the Management of the BAREFOOT RESTAURANT for sponsoring this event.
Thank you goes out also to the Sheriff Security and the Coast Guard for their service and assistance safeguarding all participants during the swim.
We are looking forward to everyone’s continuous support.
This prestigious event was competed in two categories, over a distance:
1. Short Distance Swim (1.3 KM.)
2. Long distance Swim (1.8 KM.)
The LAB Sports ACADEMY in Collaboration with BARE FOOT Restaurant hosted this event in conjunction with the celebrations for St. Maarten Day. The event got started Sunday morning 6:00 AM with a sign up following all athletes getting on the Bus of Mr. Illis and PIET Taxi service which took all swimmers to the Harbor where we jumped off the Pier.
Overall results.
· WINNER in the Short Distance was EMRYS HALBERTSMA in a time of 19 Min and 20 sec. 2nd place Mr. Dave KAY both of the Carib Swim Team.
· In the long Distance Swim: WINNER – GUY LAURENT with a time of 26 Min and 30 Sec and a very Close second JADE GOBERT with a time of 26Min 31 Sec.

All in all this was a great success, Changes to be made for the next year are:
1. Add more categories, with the intention to Especially show case and motivate the youth swimmers more.
2. Add another school bus to do the transporting of athletes to the starting point.
3. Add more specific prizes. (Youngest swimmer) (Record swim times)
4. Expanding the distances.
