President of Parliament Hon. Gracita Arrindell’s vision is for the House of Parliament to become efficient and paperless by making use of the latest office organizational technologies.
The President of Parliament was given a presentation on Wednesday by the SIM Group, a company based in the Netherlands that specializes in digitalization of governments and caters to approximately 260 municipalities. The SIM Group have worked in Aruba and Curacao.
The main focus of the presentation was on content management; E-Government (paperless work environment); parliament information system; wireless; webcast; and IPad application.
"I was very impressed with the presentation and saw it as an opportunity to also have the group inform our Members of Parliament in a Central Committee setting. This meeting takes place on Friday morning.
"Once we implement a paperless parliament, we will also be contributing in a small way towards reducing country Sint Maarten’s foot print on the environment," President of Parliament Hon. Arrindell said on Thursday.
The main goal of the parliament information system and the IPAD application is to publish documents therefore creating a transparent environment for the public and Members of Parliament.
The Central Committee of Parliament will meet on Friday at 9.00am in the General Assembly Chamber of the House and the public are invited to the session.
