The resurfacing of roads continued over the weekend.Sunday, workmen from Public Works Department Road Division, resurfaced Lozack Road (behind the Police Headquarters).Last week Rectory Road towards Dorset and Market Street were paved. Also paved were two roads in the area of the St. Johnston Police Station.It is understood that the next road to be paved will be the Factory Road as well as Central Street from Cunningham Street to West Independence Square Street. Recently streets connecting to Central Street were paved. These included Thibou Avenue, Durrant Avenue and Malone Avenue.Roads in New Town, Pond Site, Tabernacle, Trafalgar Village were also recently resurfaced.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Works, the Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin recently disclosed that Ministry through the Public Works Department is also looking at the areas where persons in the various communities have acquired houses from the National Housing Corporation and still without roads."We hope that very shortly we would be able to roll out the development of those roads in those communities around the island.
