Cave Hill, Barbados – The West Indies Cricket Board Fast Bowling Coaches Workshop commenced in Barbados today with an impressive list of attendees.
Former Test players Winston Benjamin, Floyd Reifer, Vasbert Drakes, Nixon McLean, Robert Samuels and Ian Allen are among 21 participants who are engaging in the two day workshop at the Sagicor High Performance Centre at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies.
Hendy Bryan and Deighton Butler who both played One Day Internationals for the Windies are also participating in the workshop which is being facilitated by West Indies Head Coach Ottis Gibson and world renowned biomechanist Dr. Paul Hurrion.
The facilitation team also includes Sagicor HPC Bowling Coach and West Indies Under 19 Head Coach Roddy Estwick, WICB Physiotherapist CJ Clarke and Video and Statistical Analyst Richard Berridge along with other specialists.
WICB is funding the full participation of two coaches from each Territorial Board and Combined Campuses and Colleges and the workshop was also open to other coaches who showed an interest.
The additional coaches are responsible for their travel and accommodation while the participation fee for the workshop has been absorbed by the WICB.

Springer, the former Barbados off spinner, is a former West Indies Assistant Coach and coaches the West Indies A Team. He is also a former Barbados Head Coach.
Allen and Drakes are head coaches of the Windward Islands and Barbados senior teams respectively.
Toppin coaches both the Barbados Under 15 and Under 19 teams. He coached the Under 19s to the WICB Regional 50 Over title last month.
Samuels coaches the Jamaica Under 19 side which won the WICB Regional Under 19 3 Day Tournament this year.
Corke coaches the Jamaican Under 15 team which won the 2011 WICB Under 15 Tournament.
Benjamin and Duncan are head coaches of Leeward and Windward islands Under 19 Head Coaches respectively.
McLean coaches the St Vincent and Grenadines Women’s team.
Crandon, the Guyanese fast bowler and Wiggins of Combined Campuses and Colleges are active regional players.
Lorenzo Tucker of Bermuda has also been included on the participants list.
The workshop is addressing several areas critical to the fast bowling discipline including Biomechanical Principles, Assessing Actions, Video Analysis, Understanding Swing and Fitness for Bowling among several other areas.
This Fast Bowling Coaches Workshop follows workshops for Territorial Development Officers and Youth Coaches, Umpires and Match Referees and development workshops for Under 15 and Under 19 players in the WICB Regional Under 15 and Under 19 Tournaments.
