Kolegio Rayo di Solo in Antriol Pariba was completed on Thursday, July 13th. The renovated school will be furnished in the next couple of weeks, so that the buildings can be put into service at the start of the new academic year.Â
The contractor Constructora Tecnica Silvousa started the construction work in July 2016. The building project was completed according to plan. The school building on Hanchi Amboina has been out of service for one year for the implementation of this building project. The pupils of Kolegio Rayo di Solo used the former housing of the primary school Papa Cornes on Kaya Baracuda during the 2016-2017 academic year. The official opening of the school is planned on May 16th, 2018.
The renovated school buildings have been painted in the colours of the rainbow. The amount of oxygen in the cooled classrooms is measured constantly and maintained at the proper level to ensure optimal performance of the pupils and teachers. The renovation comprised, amongst others, the cleaning up of asbestos roof sheets, modifying the support structure in order to comply with the current construction rules and fitting thermally insulated roof sheets and window frames.
The realisation of this building project is part of the educational buildings plan for Bonaire, which is co-financed by the Public Entity Bonaire and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science [Ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap, OCW]. Stichting Openbaar Onderwijs Bonaire [Bonaire Public-Authority Education Foundation], the Central Government Real Estate Agency, Streefkerk Architects + Consultants and the clients are very pleased with the result.
