ELDERLY ABUSE AWARENESS WEEK ACTIVITIES

The Sint Maarten Seniors and Pensioners Association is embarking on a series of events to address the different forms of elderly abuse in our society. These events are in light of the upcoming annual World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day which falls this year on Sunday, June 15. The SMSPA requests all seniors from 60 and up and the seniors to be from 6-60 to reflect this week upon the treatment of seniors in our homes, in our districts, in our society. How to end the abuse of elderly in Sint Maarten and in this part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands?
1. Through interviews at radio and tv stations the public is asked to participate and discuss the ongoing abuse of the elderly in this part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
2. For Thursday June 12 a meeting is scheduled at 14.00 pm at the Seniors Citizen Recreational Center at Hope Estate. The board of the SMSPA is inviting all the members of the seniors and pensioners association to attend this meeting. Non-members are also welcome to join the association.
The following issues of structural abuse among other issues of elderly abuse will be discussed:
