Police Saba conduct traffic control

On Tuesday morning the Dutch Caribbean Police Force (KPCN) on Saba held a traffic control between 07.15 and 09.00 hours on the John Z. Ridge Road between St. John and Windwardside. This traffic control is meant to control that motorists comply with the traffic ordinances in order for a vehicle to be able and allowed to drive on the public road.

During this action between 60 and 70 cars were controlled. In total 11 fines were written out and 2 commands to present proof of valid documents were issued. Further, one car was taken because it was not insured, there was no road tax paid and the driver did not have a valid driver’s license. Road tax stickers should be paste on the number plate. The remaining traffic tickets concerned: faulty brake lights, not paying road tax and not being able to show a valid driver’s license.

KPCN is appealing to motorists on Saba to ensure they always have with them a valid driver’s license, up-to-date vehicle insurance and proof of payment of road tax for 2014. To prevent that the vehicle is taken away it is very important this is in good working condition. An important task of the Police is to maintain safety on the island; road safety is hereby also included.
