On Saturday June 22nd 2013 the Sint Maarten Lions Club held its change of the Board Ceremony at Sonesta Maho Beach Hotel.
Amongst a prestigious gathering of Lion members, their partners in service, Leos and invited guests, the installation of the new Lions Board of Directors for the Lions year 2013-2014 was conducted by District Governor 60B Lion Claudius Buncamper, MJF.
Before the installation of the new Board, outgoing President Lion Richard Boyd delivered his outgoing speech in which he thanked all Lions for an excellent year.
With his concentration being on development of the youths during his tenure Boyd was quite satisfied with the projects executed in this respect.
He made specific mention of the "Lions Quest" project whereby several teachers and after school leaders were trained to improve the moral and social values of our youths.

Outgoing District Governor Lion Claudius Buncamper also thanked all Lions and their families for the great support he received during the past year which gave him a most successful year whereby much was achieved on a local level and also around the region.
After being installed as the Lions Club’s 43rd President incoming President Lion Claudio Buncamper in his inauguration speech promised to invest much time and energy in the youth and elderly in the community. Membership development by enhancing the experience within the club, partnerships with other NGO’s are all high on the new President’s list.
His theme reads: "FOLLOW YOUR DREAM AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE"
As customary the Lions chose a "Lion of the Year" and for the second time in four years the honors went to Lion Davey Woods.
Highlight of the evening was also when District Governor Claudius Buncamper pinned Past District Governor 60B Lion Wally Havertong with "Four Diamond Progressive Melvin Jones" for his unswerving and dedicated service to the club and community for the past 38 years. Lion Wally is the third Lion in the entire District 60B to receive this award.
This award adds to his Melvin Jones award which he received in 1987, Paul Harris Award which he received from the St. Maarten Rotary Club in 1998.
