GENDARMES AND DUTCH POLICE KEEP JOINT GENERAL CONTROL

On Friday June 28th at midnight until Saturday June 29th at 03.00 a.m. the Gendarmes and the Dutch police kept a joint general control. The control were carried out at the four main border crossings between the French and Dutch side of the island namely, Coralita/ Oyster Bay, Belvedere / French Quarter, Union road /Belle View and Cupe Coy and Low Lands.

 

During this control more than two hundred cars were checked. A total of 40 fines were given on the Dutch side and five cars were towed because they were not in proper working condition. The Chief Commissioner of Police from the Dutch Side Peter de Witte visited the control location on border at Union road/ Belle View where he met members from the gendarmes in charge of the control on the French Side. The control was very successful and more joint controls are to be held throughout the rest of the year to further strengthen the working relationship between both sides of the island
