JICN organizes meeting about education and training: “pilot project to structural approach”

On June 6th ,at the initiative of the Judicial Establishment Caribbean Netherlands (JICN), location of Bonaire, representatives of the chain partners came togheter to talk about the future of education and training within the Correctional Institution Dutch Carribean (JICN), location Bonaire. During the pilot, which lasted 2 years, were initially pupils of school age (" leerplichtigen" under 16 years) within the JICN schooled by teachers of the SGB.

 

After this the pilot was expanded to include education and training of young people over the age of 16. Forma provides a trajectory "social opportunity for young people", which they also offer within the JICN. Young people, but also adults, are given the opportunity to short vocational courses to follow, so that they can find faster an ordinary job in society.

Opleidingsinstiuut Caribisch Nederland (OICN) also performed training for adults and young people within JICN.

Present at the meeting were representatives of JICN, Ministry of Security and Justice , Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), the public entities of Bonaire and Statia, Reclassering Caribbean Netherlands, SGB, Forma, OICN Halt, Youth Care and Family Supervision and a delegation from Statia.
