While much is being said about waste on St. Maarten and the need for recycling programs, Waste Factory Sint Maarten is doing something about it and on Thursday they showed Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI) Christopher Wever, just what they have been doing.
Since opening the Waste Factory has worked hard to live up to their promise to their policy to “be a one-stop-shop for information, advice, education, collaboration, instruction, creation, and sale of environmentally friendly products; and a champion of a circular economy on Sint Maarten that embraces the 5 R’s of sustainable waste management, namely: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Re-purpose, Repair & Recycle.” Wever said the work being done at the Waste Factory is an essential step to resolving some of the waste-related issues on the island. “I look forward to visiting more organizations who focus on sustainable waste management and working closely with them to find solutions for the challenges we face,” said Wever.
