CKAIR meeting about several topics in preparation of the IPKO and Tripartite meetings in the Hague, scheduled for Monday

The Committee of Kingdom Affairs and Interparliamentary Relations of Parliament will meet in a session on Monday, April 11. Several Ministers will be present for the sitting of the House.

The CKAIR meeting has been set for Monday at 10.00 am in the General Assembly Chamber of the House at Wilhelminastraat #1 in Philipsburg.

The agenda point is discussion with the relevant Ministers on several topics in preparation of the IPKO and Tripartite to be held from May 31-June 3, 2016 in the Hague, the Netherlands.

 

The Minister of General Affairs will be providing information on embassies and the securing of the interests of Sint Maarten, dispute regulation, discrimination, possibility of travel with ID between Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten, SIDS and the formalization of ministerial cooperation (Ministeriële Samenwerking), followed by the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Affairs on the success rate of Sint Maarten students in the Netherlands, the actual implementation of the action plan on the rights of the child and an update on DUO.

The next Minister who will be shedding light to topics such as flight connections between Sint Maarten, Saba and Statia, landing rights on Sint Maarten, fast ferry connection between Sint Maarten, Saba and Statia and reducing roaming costs between the Caribbean islands of the Kingdom is the Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication. The Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor will be elaborating on health care and discrimination right after.

 

Finally the Minister of Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure will delve into climate change, global warming, the Paris Climate Agreement and its consequences for Sint Maarten in relation to SIDS and innovative and sustainable energy while the Minister of Finance will give an update on will registration (testamentenregister).

 

Members of the public are invited to the House of Parliament to attend parliamentary deliberations.
