On Friday, September 18, 2015 Social & Health Insurances (SZV) updated Minister of Public Health Social Development & Labor, Rafael Boasman on their future developments entitled” Action Plan 3.0.” During the morning session Glenn Carty, interim CEO at SZV explained in detail SZV’s future developments for Country St. Maarten.
Within the SZV “Action Plan 3.0” Carty explained SZV’s first priorities for 2016-2018 with the intention of transforming SZV to a performance driven and client focused organization. The action plan clearly states that to ensure structural progress, a new management structure, cultural change instruments and programs, client focused processes and SMART IT solutions will be developed and implemented.
In addition to the above, it is the intention to have some of the following actions taken, such as: make processes and procedures more efficient and client friendly; improve the medical claims unit; set up professional healthcare procurement and align care demand and supply amongst others. The latter, will be taken care of by the tripartite consisting of the Ministry of Public Health Social Development & Labor, SZV and St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC).
As it relates to the actions for client communication and service delivery SZV plans to set up a one stop shop by reorganizing service lines; communicating SZV’s more efficient procedures and improving complaint and compliment procedures.
Also during the morning session, Director of the SMMC, Kees Klarenbeek presented the hospital’s business case, which relates back to the protocol, which was signed on March 26, 2015, whereby an agreement to cooperate to develop a sustained and sustainable business case for SMMC together with SZV and the Ministry of Public Health Social Development & Labour. The update on the development of the business case of SMMC was explained in detail to Minister Boasman by Klarenbeek.
Minister Boasman is supportive of the presented plans and urged the parties involved to continue to collaborate to improve the healthcare needs of the country.
