Minister of Public Health Social Development & Labor, Cornelius De Weever on Friday last was at St. Jospeh School where the 912 magnets were presented to students. Shanise James was the winner of the drawing contest recently held.
“What better way can one use to promote the use of the 912 emergency number than to start with educating our youngsters about it,” said Minister De Weever.
The Ambulance Department in cooperation with WIEMS held a drawing contest among the primary schools to promote the 912 awareness in the community. 912 is the number to dial in case of a medical emergency. Shanise James winning drawing of an ambulance is depicted on the 912 magnets, along with her personal message: “Dial 912, not 911 for ambulance.”
“When every second counts to save someone’s life it is extremely important to know to call 912, it is very important that the entire population of St. Maarten knows to call 912 in case of emergencies,” said Minister De Weever.
