Five Traditional Sail Boats raced in the St. Maarten Day Traditional Sail Boat Race. The early weather conditions may have cancelled some boats from attending. The 5 boats that attended were (Alma Gloria, F5-Tornado, Kedro’s Pride, R.O.B.B, and Stay Up 2).
Once the horn was blown, the race started with all boats sailing to capture the Marker Prizes ( A, B, and C) . Alma Gloria quickly took Marker A followed by Marker B and C. The waves slightly came to a calm making sailing conditions better for the boats that were on there way to Simpson Bay and back to Philipsburg. As the boats approached the finished, the crowds gathered to view the winning boats;
1st Place…….. F5/Tornado
2nd Place……. Alma Gloria
3rd Place……. Stay Up 2.
The participants of the boat race are thankful for the support of the following sponsors; The Windward Islands Bank, Government of St. Maarten, Caribbean Liquors & Tobacco, Taloula Mangos Restaurant. Thank you for bringing back "we old Boat race".
