On Thursday, September 5th 2013 at 05.00 a.m., a Philipsburg Police Patrol was sent to Zenitel on the Juancho Yrauquin Boulevard to investigate an attempted robbery.
On the scene the investigating officers spoke to the two female victims from Venezuela with initials A.D.V and J.C.C. who stated that they had gone out to a night club in the Maho area. After leaving the night club they took a gypsy-taxi who would take them to their residence in Point Blanche for the price of $ 20,-. On the way in the Philipsburg area the driver of the gypsy-taxi change his mind and wanted to be paid $ 70,- instead of the $ 20,- that was previously discussed. According to the victims they were then driven close to the seaside between R.B.C.-bank and Diamond Casino. The driver and victims stepped out of the car at which time the driver demanded the $ 70,-. When the victims refused to pay that amount the drivers attempted to pull at the victim’s bag. The victims took off running and screaming for help until they ended up at the security booth of Zenitel at which time the police were notified of the incident. A search of the area was done to try to locate the possible suspect but he was not found. The victims were taken to their home and advised to file an official complaint with the Detective Department.
