YOUNG “G” MEMORIAL FUN AND SPORTS DAY KNOCK OUTS!

We have organized various back to school basketball knock outs over the years in Middle Region. However this year is very special to us.

On August 25, 2013 we have decided to organize this year back to school knock out in memory of the late Gerald James. The late Gerald James was a student at MPC in BVO 4 when he lost his life. His hobbies were Rapping, Baseball, Volleyball and Basketball. He was the son of Mrs. Sandra Lake-Burlet and Mr. Jerald James. As you can remember Young "G" as he was affectionately known by many of his friends and family life was taken very tragically on April 7, 2011. "As many would say he was at the wrong place at the wrong time", says Ms. Angelica Chittick, president of the Middle Region Defiance Community Council.

However as family, friends and the residents of Middle Region we want to continue to celebrate his life and therefore organized this Memorial Basketball Knock Out on August 25, 2013 five days short of his birthday at the Alec the "Butcher" Richardson Basketball Court next to the Sister Marie Laurent School in Middle Region. He would have been celebrating his 21st birthday on August 30, 2013.

We are inviting all the teams to register on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Calabash Bar & Restaurant in Middle Region at 7.00 pm. This is to avoid long waiting time as we have experienced in the last knock out organized on June 23, 2013.

This sporting event consists of a Cadet basketball knock out for children under the age of 15 years and seniors over that age; and a female netball knock out.

This memorial’s day celebration also coincides with our grand fundraising BBQ and Fish Cook out to be held on the same day on the road side of the basketball court. Food and drinks will be on sale on that day, thus remember to take the day off from behind the stove and bring the entire family to celebrate with us.

Come out and celebrate with us Young "G" Memorial Fun and Sports Day Knock Outs on Sunday, August 25, 2013. It all starts at 11.30 am until we crowned the new king of the Young ‘G" memorial basketball knock outs and the queen of the Netball Knock out.
