Special offers for fans to see CELKON Mobile Cup

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Thousands of cricket fans in Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, including schoolchildren, will get the chance to see some of the world’s best cricketers showcase their skills – for FREE!

This is thanks to the West Indies Cricket Board who has re-launched its fan outreach programme for the upcoming CELKON Mobile Series tri-nation tournament which features West Indies, India and Sri Lanka, and which runs from Friday, June 28 to Thursday, July 11.

The WICB has joined with the Jamaica Cricket Association, the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board as well as schools across the islands to ensure aspiring cricketers and young fans get the chance to see their favourite stars in action during the first leg of the series at Sabina Park, and the second leg scheduled for Queen’s Park Oval.

Through its schools’ programme, the WICB has made tickets available to schools so members of their cricket teams and other Windies fans can come and see their favourite players.

In outlining the details of the programme, WICB’s Events Manager Cindy McLean, noted that a limited number of FREE tickets were also available for spectators over the age of 60.

Also, those under the age of 16 – not attending with their school – will be issued a FREE ticket once accompanied by an adult with a paid ticket.

"The exciting is building as we get ready for what promises to be one of the most exciting tournaments in the Caribbean in recent years," said McLean.

"We will have some of the best players in the world on show for the CELKON Mobile Series trophy at two of the most spectacular venues in world cricket. We have made every effort to make sure that fans – from babies to senior citizens – to see the matches and enjoy the exciting action on the field of play."

McLean added: "We hope that an initiative like this will help to generate renewed interest in the game among our young and older fans alike. We have made the match accessible to our fans and we know our Windies players and visiting teams will help to make it memorable for all members of our cricket family."
