TelEm Group, in collaboration with third party developers, has developed customized mobile applications (APPS) especially for their mobile subscribers.
The development of mobile apps are a brand new undertaking of TelEm Group’s Business Development Department, and is aimed at giving added value to the company’s mobile voice and data users.
According to Business Development Manager, Mrs. Carmen Lake-Reyes, two applications have been developed in-house with the assistance of third parties, specifically for TelEm Group.
The first App is the SXM + 1721 App which allows mobile subscribers to automatically update their entire address book with the new + 1-721 Country Code for St. Maarten.
"The SXM + 1721 App is a bonus for users who have a huge list of numbers with the old +599 code for the Netherlands Antilles, which has been discontinued," said Mrs. Lake-Reyes.
She said once the application is downloaded and installed, subscribers can opt to update one number or their entire address book with the +1721 area code.
The SXM + 1721 App is developed with the assistance of former TelEm Group Business Development Officer, now software consultant, Mr. Christopher Bourne. He has been working closely with the company’s Business Development Officer, Ms. Alice Peterson, to bring the App to market where it is now available for immediate download in the Apple Store, and BlackBerry App Store, Android users can also download the app at www.sxm1721.com said Ms. Peterson.
The second App to be launched is a "Self-Care" App.
Once downloaded and installed, this App allows subscribers to purchase their data services online without the need to send an SMS to activate that service.
According to Apps Project Coordinator, Ms. Alice Peterson, Customers can also check their account balances for voice and data services with the new App.
For now, the new "Self-Care" App is only available for the Blackberry Z10 device and is presently available for download from Blackberry App World using the Search word" TelCell.
"The BB launch of the Self-Care" App is just a first step. Soon it will be available for Android and Apple iOS devices," said Ms. Peterson.
